JOB SUMMARY

 

The Promotions & Marketing Specialist is responsible for helping develop and managing the overall strategy of Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company’s sponsorship program, facilitating and executing any marketing, merchandising and promotional activities associated with those external agreements. This position additionally oversees and coordinates company-specific merchandise needs and plans.

 

A successful Promotions & Marketing Specialist will demonstrate an ability to: define and manage contract details with outside partners and vendors to ensure all aspects are fully executed; coordinate and implement a schedule of activities and deadlines for the company’s sponsorship and merchandising needs; and use the successful management of the sponsorship and merchandising programs to enhance the company’s overall brand.

 

This position will report to the Director of Communications and work with other key leadership and cross-functional teams to promote the business and values of KFB Insurance.

 

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Promote the goals, objectives and overall mission of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance.
  • Adhere to, protect and advance the KFB Insurance brand in all communication efforts.
  • Represent KFB Insurance in both business and public settings, carrying the company message and brand in a positive manner.
  • Serve as the company’s corporate sponsorship liaison from initial point of contact to execution of the products and/or services per the agreements.
  • Review all invoices for accuracy and adherence to contracts.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process.
  • Corporate Sponsorship Liaison:
    • Establish, maintain and utilize a set of criteria that outlines the KFB Insurance strategy for measuring the value of sponsorship opportunities.
    • Facilitate the sponsorship proposal workflow according to established procedures.
    • Become the company’s subject matter expert on all benefits KFB Insurance receives in conjunction with its sponsorship agreements – present and future.
    • Develop, guide, budget for and implement graphic design projects, merchandising needs and/or events and activities associated with each sponsorship activation.
    • Serve as event coordinator for all KFB Insurance sponsorship activations. Coordinate additional KFB staff/agent participation to assist on site activations when/as needed.
    • Work closely with KFB Insurance Communications staff, KFB Federation Communication staff, external advertising agency and merchandising vendors to develop, produce and distribute promotional materials for company and sponsorship programming.
    • Document and photograph each sponsored event or season for historical purposes, leadership reporting and further promotional purposes.
    • Present formalized sponsorship updates to leadership as required.
    • Advise and assist departmental peers with internal, external and social media communication opportunities involving KFB Insurance’s sponsorship activities.
  • Branded and Promotional Merchandise Oversight:
    • Work in cooperation with the KFB Federation Communication staff to manage company-branded items for purchase through the agency co-op program and KFB Country Store.
    • Work with department management, KFB Federation Communication staff and external vendors to order company-branded promotional giveaways for various events.
    • Establish merchandising strategy, evaluating current inventory and comparing it to the marketing needs of KFB Insurance.
    • Work closely with approved vendors to establish working relationships and stay educated on the latest trends in branded and promotional products.

 

 

  • Assist with the development of strategic communication plans for the company, ensuring those efforts align with and actively advance the overall priorities of KFB Insurance.
  • Support other Communications Department needs and initiatives as required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITES

  • Extensive in-state travel required to monitor, organize and facilitate sponsored activities. This will require work on evenings and weekends.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings to provide communications analysis and support.
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of a digital archive for communication materials developed by the department.

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, advertising or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant marketing experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Highly motivated individual who will take the initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to contribute to a collaborative work environment that stretches across all levels of the organization. Simultaneously a comfortable and confident self-starter able to work productively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to initiate, execute and deliver overlapping projects with a degree of independence.
  • Personally organized, detail-oriented individual capable of bringing order and process to new and evolving role and department.
  • Excellent command of the written word, oral communication and fact-checking.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of both traditional and digital marketing principles and strategies, and creating advertising/marketing plans.
  • Experience with advertising buying, including digital/social media buying, a plus. Familiarity with those principles and the ability to track marketing metrics preferred.
