Overview

Process new business applications received from the agency force by performing a completeness check and encoding the endorsements on the application. Process the completed application through Keyfast and type any endorsements into EDOR.  Once the policy is issued, perform an audit on the policy when there is a difference in premium.  This may involve working with the underwriter or the agency force to resolve the differences in premiums.  Requires knowledge of coverage’s, endorsements, and discounts/surcharges and how they affect policy rating.  Must possess the ability to analyze and solve problems as they arise. 

Responsibilities

  • Review Homeowner, Mobile Home Owner, and Dwelling Fire new business applications and documents for accuracy and completion and obtain missing information as necessary as set by underwriting guidelines.
  • Input Homeowner, Mobile Home Owner, Dwelling Fire, Commercial Package Policies, Business Owner Policies, Commercial Umbrella, Personal Umbrella, Pollution, Boat, Farmowner, and Errors and Omissions Applications through Data Collect.
  • Perform KeyFast verification in Data Collect and reconcile any differences on Homeowner, Mobile Home Owner, Dwelling Fire, Commercial Package Policies, Business Owner Policies, Commercial Umbrella, Personal Umbrella, Pollution, Boat, Farmowner, and Errors and Omissions applications.    
  • Determine if notification to the insured is needed and send the appropriate notification to comply with Department of Insurance guidelines for the risk.
  • Contact Agency Force and their staff in a courteous and professional manner when additional information is needed to process applications and properly document the submitted application.
  • Determine when an endorsement is needed and enter the pertinent coverage information through Data Collect.
  • Perform an audit on issued policies when there is a difference in premium and reconcile differences within set timeframes.
  • Determine the appropriate method for resolving the difference in premium and follow department guidelines to correct the policy.
  • Document audit results on the policy declaration after the difference in premium has been rectified.
  • Complete 95% of all new business applications within 2 business days of receipt.
  • Meet established department production and error standards.
  • Distribute applications from mail that is received daily.
  • Submit a weekly production report.
  • Correct nightly cycle processing errors on Homeowner, Mobile Home Owner, Dwelling Fire, Commercial Package Polices, Business Owner Policies, Commercial Umbrella, Personal Umbrella, Pollution, Boat, Farmowner, and Errors and Omissions Applications through Data Collect.
  • Check Mortgage Inquiry for mortgagee number. If the number is not found, correspond with the Mortgagee Processor to assign a number.
  • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.
  • The duties described above are general in nature and may not completely cover all aspects of this position. The Supervisor may ask the employee to perform other work-related duties including, but not limited to, cross training on other positions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED. Must currently be taking college courses.
  • Knowledge in the use of personal computers.
  • Data Entry skills required.
  • Knowledge in the use of calculators.
  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry helpful.
  • A strong interest in detailed work.
  • Good decision making abilities.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
