JOB SUMMARY

There are three primary responsibilities of this position. The first is to fulfill requests from the Legal department, Adjusters or other functional areas for historical policy records to be used in litigation or claims purposes.  The second is to investigate tax and protection class discrepancies with the ISO Location Product.  And lastly, to provide support to the Director, Underwriting Services as well as all other members of the Underwriting Services team.  There will be regular, reoccurring responsibilities that will be assigned, but also tasks that vary based on the projects and initiatives the Underwriting Services team is supporting.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Research the status of specific policies at a historical point in time as requested.
  • Provide detailed policy history for litigation.
  • Certify policy records for adjusters and for legal reasons.
  • Investigate tax and protection class discrepancies as made aware of by Underwriting staff, Agents, Agency Managers or CSRs.
  • File and track tax and protection class discrepancies with ISO.
  • Research and communicate monthly ISO protection class updates.
  • Update files with monthly tax and protection class updates from ISO.
  • Save and date all bulletins sent to the field in the “Bulletins & Memos” folder on the Share drive.
  • Update historical files with changed underwriting manual pages.
  • Search the ISOnet web site for circulars and forms as requested by the Directors or Business Analysts.
  • Update vehicle symbol files with updates from ISO.
  • Assist the Underwriting Services Director by performing secretarial functions and administrative duties and represent the Director in a positive, professional, and confidential manner.
  • Administrative duties, as assigned. Those may include:
  • Proofread typed or printed work, including contracts and endorsements, and check records and reports for grammatical construction, completeness, clerical and typing accuracy.
  • Take roll-over phone calls from Underwriters, Analysts, Directors and Vice President. Handle those calls (responding, screening, delegating and redirecting calls) as appropriate, promptly and courteously.
  • Assist with meeting preparations and follow-up, including copying materials, typing meeting notes, distributing follow-up materials.
  • Work with confidential and timely information, necessitating considerable discretion, judgment and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work with others in a diplomatic and professional manner with emphasis on working as a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule activities with limited supervision.
  • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School diploma. A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of formal education, training and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by a college graduate is preferred.
    • Minimum two years insurance experience preferred.
    • Good knowledge and experience with Microsoft products including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Strong communication skills such as reading, writing, and presentation.
    • Negotiating and leadership skills desired.
    • Ability to act in a confidential manner.
    • Must possess good organizational skills and decision-making abilities. Able to work effectively under time pressures.
    • Experience with standard office equipment.
