Overview

JOB SUMMARY

Perform secretarial duties and assist all claim personnel in the correspondence, communications and processing of claims.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establish claim files.
  • Perform claim maintenance.
  • Transcribe recorded correspondence and take dictation.
  • Document claim files.
  • Answer the telephone, direct calls, handle inquiries.
  • File closed files.
  • Maintain record of salvage and subrogation.
  • Complete loss reports for out-of-county insureds.
  • Assist District Claim Manager, claim adjusters, appraiser and No-Fault Specialist.
  • Serve as a catastrophe team member or assist in other claim offices or locations as required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide assistance to other claim offices.
  • Assist adjuster with monthly inventory report.
  • Help maintain office equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies.
  • Participate in training classes.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Physical demands: Sitting; Normal vision/normal hearing (with or without correction); Speaking.
  • Mental demands: Prolonged concentration.
  • Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature and noise.
  • Equipment: Keyboard/telephone/dictaphone/copier/calculator.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year's experience in an office or one year at a business/secretarial college preferred.
  • Required to obtain an Adjuster License within one year of hire date.
  • Average typing skill with emphasis on accuracy (35 WPM).
  • Knowledge of word processing software desired. 
  • Experience with office machines desired.
  • Courteous telephone manner.
