Overview

Job Summary

This position collaborates with leadership and subject matter experts throughout the organization to analyze organizational development needs. This position is responsible for the design, development, creation, delivery, and evaluation of leadership training courses and programs. Training programs may focus on a variety of topics including: company culture and guiding principles, values, competencies and management skills and leadership development. The Leadership Training Consultant facilitates engaging and highly effective custom and corporate enterprise-wide leadership programs to mid-level and senior-level leaders using adult learning theory practices.

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct regular needs assessments with Education Services Manager, HR Leadership, and organization leaders.
  • Design and create training programs that meet the needs of the customers.
  • Develop, maintain, and update curriculum and presentation materials to support recommended training programs.
  • Manage multiple training development projects simultaneously by prioritizing deadlines.
  • Promote professional development opportunities.
  • Research and recommend leadership training opportunities.
  • Develop communication and roll out strategy plan for new development initiatives.
  • Facilitate SME and legal reviews of training materials.
  • Conduct and analyze Kirkpatrick’s Level 1 and 2 evaluations for all courses.
  • Present classroom instruction as needed at the state office and remote locations.
  • Plan for and facilitate training effectively utilizing a variety of training delivery mechanisms including traditional instructor-led classrooms, co-facilitation, workshops, and virtual classes or webinars.
  • Manage classroom environment and adapt instructional style for different audiences.
  • Engage participants’ managers in the learning process to drive application of learning to the workplace.
  • Conduct Train the Trainer sessions to extended facilitators as appropriate.
  • Maintain relationships, contact and communication with learning program participants and cohorts for coaching, follow-up and continuity of blended learning completions.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Education Services team by identifying ways to continuously improve the learning process and enhance learning effectiveness.
  • Participate as assigned in company projects. This includes:
    • Facilitating meetings
    • Coordinate training material reviews
    • Creating project management documentation (project charters, schedules, PCRs, status reports, etc.)
    • Creating training materials
  • Report completed activities to Education Services Manager monthly.
  • Participate in Human Resources and Education Services meetings.
  • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review, edit and produce learning plans as needed.
  • Participate in company and professional activities to stay abreast of training and insurance developments.
  • Participate in research to keep abreast of adult learning principles and training technologies.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Physical demands: Sitting; Speaking to large or small groups; Standing; Normal vision/hearing (with or without correction); Occasional lifting not to exceed 25 lbs.; Dexterity of hands to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other computer peripherals.
  • Mental demands: Critical thinking; Analytical thinking and reasoning; Able to handle multiple projects; Deadline oriented under time constraints; Able to adjust quickly to workplace change; High degree of coping skill.
  • Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature and noise; Overnight travel required, standing and or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Equipment: Keyboard; Various computer hardware; Telephone; Audio-visual technology; Fax Machine; Copier.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred areas of study include Organizational Leadership, Business, Education, Communications, or Instructional Design.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years previous experience in a leadership development training role preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% per month required.
  • Proficient use of Adobe InDesign, Learning Management System, Audience Response System, and Snag It.
  • Effective communications skills – listening, speaking, and presenting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong editorial and writing skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Any of the following certifications a plus: Myers Briggs, StrengthsFinder, Emotional Intelligence, Crucial Conversations, Franklin Covey, John Maxwell, or Ken Blanchard.
