  • Overview

    Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation and distribution of payroll via the payroll system.  Reviews the computation of pay and ensures the company payroll policies are in accordance with government regulations.  Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks.  In collaboration with the Payroll Specialist, ensures that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. 



    • Processes biweekly and monthly payroll runs and special payroll runs including annual bonus and year-end adjustment payrolls. Processes manual checks when necessary.
    • Implements quality controls to ensure the integrity of the Company payroll.
    • Reviews payroll batches for accuracy.
    • Interprets current Federal, State and Local rules and regulations pertaining to payroll function. Reconciles payroll runs to quarterly and annual tax filings.
    • Proficient in all payroll functions to cover for team member vacations and/or high-volume workloads.
    • Monitors and controls payroll records/activities for all employees.
    • Processes complex tasks related to deferred compensation, early inclusion taxes, third party sick pay, etc.
    • Tracks expenses for annual budget purposes.
    • Balances payroll by auditing information, initiating journal entries, identifying and resolving problems, and identifying system improvements.
    • Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Ensures the integrity of the payroll data including but not limited to data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes.
    • Develop and maintain payroll and job duties procedural manual.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional journals.
    • Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude when resolving payroll inquiries.
    • Works under minimal supervision.
    • Serves as System Administrator for Payroll and Time & Attendance Systems.
    • Assists in internal and external audits of Company Financial Records.
    • Serves as backup support for benefits administration.
    • Promotes employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and maintaining confidentiality of payroll information.
    • Assist in special projects as assigned. Contributes to team efforts. 
    • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in payroll administration.
    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification preferred.
    • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    • Experience with Ceridian HR/Payroll Web Service a plus.
    • Familiar with GL coding.
    • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Must be a self-starter and possess good organization skills.
    • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high energy environment.
    • Strong time management skills.
    • General knowledge of tax reciprocity rules and regulations.
    • Technical knowledge of payroll function.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
    • Average typing skills with emphasis on accuracy.
    • Proficient with calculator.
    • Interest in problem solving and research.
