  • Overview

    The eBusiness Developer is a key contributor to our internal customer support and development of web applications, web content and pages, and content management systems. The eBusiness Developer will provide input to drive future release features, participate in web design and implementation sessions, and test scheduled features prior to release to our production environments. This position will participate in analyzing the web customer experience. The eBusiness Developer will review, analyze, and modify web application systems including coding, testing, debugging and installing to support our eBusiness applications.  Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish.   



    • Plan, design, and develop web-based applications to support customer-facing websites, including concept and usability testing.
    • Responsible for the complete system development life cycle from User Requirements, creating Functional Specifications, Coding, Testing, Debugging through Implementation and Documenting.
    • Assist in creating site maps, user scenarios, site navigation, site design, content management usage, and prototypes for demonstration of concepts.
    • Provide individual and group support/training of Content Management System and SharePoint.
    • Monitor and report on Web site traffic, usage, and performance. Collate data to identify areas of success and improvement.
    • Development of code and technical specifications with multi-platform design methodologies.
    • Responsible for technical movement of code from development to production, recording the movement of code and the components of releases.
    • Assists in working with users to define new eBusiness systems or enhancements to existing eBusiness systems.
    • Prepares project plans and schedules.
    • Gives on-call support to online systems 24 x 7.
    • Prepares technical design and program specifications for others to follow.
    • From own analysis, codes new programs, modifies existing programs, tests, and documents programs according to published standards.
    • Maintains expertise in programming, software, and new methods and techniques.  Keeps informed on technology and insurance industry trends and developments.
    • Track customer inquiries and Incident Reports maintaining ownership of the ticket until resolution. Effectively communicate the progress of the ticket and track issues to help develop future strategies.
    • Provide regular reports on goals and activities.
    • Regular predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

    • Assists with the work of multiple projects.
    • Evaluates and recommends vendor web application, development, and monitoring software.
    • Participates in program walkthroughs.
    • Contributes to eBusiness programming standards.
    • Assists with in-house training classes.



    • Physical demands: Sitting; Normal Vision (with or without correction); Be available for 24 hour on call on a rotation basis; Stress of working overtime as required.

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related area required.
    • Successful completion of course in project management is preferred.
    • Optimal education:  Successful completion of IIA general insurance certificate or equivalent CPCU courses and/or continuing education in another area is desired.
    • 4+ years work experience in the eBusiness development, application programming, or related area of which 2 years have been involved in analysis work.
    • Mastery of JAVA, JavaScript, HTML, ASP and XML strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated skills in programming, analysis and ability to work with limited assistance from others.
