  • Overview

    Serves customers/members and answers inquiries, resolves problems, and takes First Notice of Loss calls.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Answer telephone, direct calls, and handle inquiries.
    • Establish claim files and record claim notes for First Notice of Loss document.
    • Perform claim maintenance.
    • Assist district claim manager, claim adjusters, property adjusters, automobile physical damage appraisers, and others as assigned.
    • Serve as a catastrophe team member or assist other claim offices or locations as required.
    • Assist and cooperate with all company personnel.
    • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Provide assistance to other claim offices.
    • Type letters and forms required to process assigned work.
    • Maintain knowledge of auto and property policy contracts.
    • Participate in company training and industry sponsored education programs and seminars.
    • Properly use and maintain company equipment, supplies and office facilities.
    • Pursue professional development.

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

    • Physical demands: Normal vision and hearing (with or without correction); Sitting; Speaking; General fine motor skills.
    • Mental demands: Analytic reasoning; Prolonged concentration; Ability to perform under high stress; Ability to deal professionally with change.
    • Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature and noise.
    • Equipment: Telephone; Computers; Calculator; Copier; Fax; Keyboard.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Average typing skill (35 wpm) desired.
    • Previous experience in claims or insurance office preferred.
    • Experience in the use of office equipment.
    • Courteous telephone manner.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Ability to make timely decisions and act in confidential manner.
