    This position coordinates and manages subrogation and collection activities to ensure efficient and effective processing of subrogation files as directed by Subrogation Supervisor.



    • Accept and establish subrogation files from claim department.
    • Identify and secure missing information or support materials necessary for handling subrogation files through correspondence, personal contact, or telephone.
    • Process incoming and outgoing mail in regards to the subrogation unit.
    • Coordinate subrogation activities with claim department personnel.
    • Create and type correspondence and issue form letters to satisfactorily resolve questions relating to policyholder inquiries.
    • Prepare subrogation files for arbitration, pre-litigation, or litigation activities.
    • Maintain subrogation files.
    • Maintain subrogation data via manual or computer system.
    • Generate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports for legal and claim management.
    • Set forth payment plans for uninsured parties. Assist in follow-up when needed when payments are not received on time.
    • Interact with customers and policyholders concerning deductibles and file status.
    • Process incoming drafts, monies, or checks to be applied toward subrogation recovery and prepare and issue drafts to return deductibles and pay arbitration decisions.
    • Review closed claim files for possible subrogation activity.
    • Maintain good relations within the company and the public.
    • Represent the Claim department in a positive and professional manner.
    • Receive telephone and personal inquiries relating to subrogation files by policyholders and others, providing assistance where appropriate or referring to other staff as appropriate.
    • Provide courteous, helpful response to all requests for assistance.
    • Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

    • Equipment: Computer software; Keyboard; Telephone; Dictaphone; Copier; Calculator.


    • Combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by a four-year college graduate.
    • Average typing skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • The ability to make timely decisions.
    • Good human relation skills and self-motivation required.
    • Ability to act in a confidential manner.
    • Knowledge of word processing software.
    • Previous experience in claims or a legal office is desirable.
    • Required to obtain an Adjuster License within one year of hire date.
