This position will assist the Financial Reporting Supervisor or Manager to develop and maintain accounting systems along with recording and analyzing financial transactions and preparing company-wide information for internal and external financial reporting.  Performs complex accounting transactions following appropriate procedures for timely and accurate preparation of reports.


Prepares various monthly/quarterly/yearly financial reports, including the identification and investigation of fluctuations and variances in preparation for the monthly board meetings.
Assists with the implementation of new procedures/projects and improvements due to business change, operational requirements, legal requirements and accounting or regulatory changes.
Develops, maintains and documents accounting controls, procedures, workflow and reporting to ensure efficient and consistent applications of accounting functions.
Develops understanding of reinsurance contracts and completes the accounting associated with monthly, quarterly and annual changes in the contracts.
Acquires and maintain a working knowledge of statutory insurance accounting (STAT) as provided by the Kentucky Department of Insurance and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries for KFB Mutual Insurance Company (STAT Basis) and its subsidiary entities (U.S. GAAP basis).
Develops and maintains analytical models.
Prepares timely and accurate routine and ad hoc reports and analyses.
Assists with annual budget process, including preparing quarterly and annual budget v. actual variance reports.
Assists in the preparation of Company financial projections.
Prepares monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
Understands and develops proficient use of commission system and its applications.
Assist the Financial Reporting Team with providing information to internal and external auditors, including researching answers to their questions. Analyzes and solves problems.
Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

Equipment: Telephone; PC; Calculator; Copier; FAX machine.


Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Finance field required.
CPA preferred
Minimum of four to six years’ experience working in Accounting/Finance area.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Mastery of basic math and U.S. GAAP accounting principles.
Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work well with others, both inside and outside the organization.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
