Overview

Reports to: Network Security Manager

Job Status: Hourly (15 – 38.5 hours per week)

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Location: On-site at KFB State Office in Louisville, KY
Term: May 2025 and August 2025 (term may be extended by mutual agreement of intern and hiring manager)

 

Establishes and enforces policies for securing computers, network infrastructure, and information resources. Analyzes security and network requirements of the Company and develops specifications for use and access to corporate resources. Directs the evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of software, hardware, and network systems required to enforce and monitor established policies.

Responsibilities

Establishes, maintains, and monitors access to corporate data and network systems to ensure privacy and data integrity.

Manages end user privileges and permissions (mainframe, distributed, network, databases).

Validates security control tables; Monitors security and network activity logs.

Conducts internal audit of security files and network configurations.

Creates end user documentation for IT and network policies.

Fulfills administrative reporting requirements.

Regular predictable attendance whether physically present or remote.

Other Responsibilities

 

Participates in project work assigned.

Participates in the analysis, consultation, and action plans for projects based on security and network systems knowledge.

Contributes to corporate standards manual and security playbooks.

Communicates with technical staff, network engineers, and end users.

Assists with in-house training classes as needed.

Provides exceptional customer service to users of IT and network technologies by understanding and anticipating customer needs.

Supports the strategic mission of the IT function as it relates to goals for the organization.

Effectively builds a network of contacts at all levels of the organization to maintain connectivity to the business and responsibilities and functions of each department.

Applies the KFB corporate guiding principles of connectivity, championing people, customer service, and operational excellence in daily work and decision making.

Exhibits high accountability for corporate guidelines regarding the use of technology, network, and security standards.

 

Job Specifications

 

Physical demands: Sitting; Normal vision/hearing (with or without correction).

Mental demands: Prolonged concentration; Analytical reasoning; meet deadlines. 

Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature and noise. 

Equipment: Personal computer; Keyboards. 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred or in process. Associate degree or combination of formal education and experience to acquire knowledge and skill equivalent to a college graduate may be considered.  

Classroom exposure or entry level experience in information or network security preferred. 

Classroom exposure or entry level experience Directory Services experience and security policy objects experience preferred.  

Above average written and verbal communications. 

High ethics; Verifiable work experience in information security and/or information sensitive environment.
