Reports to: Director of Internal Audit
Job Status: Hourly (15 – 38.5 hours per week)
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Location: On-site at KFB State Office in Louisville, KY
Term: May 2025 to August 2025 (term may be extended by mutual agreement of intern and hiring manager)
The Internal Audit Intern will assist in evaluating existing internal control documentation, testing current processes and procedures, and providing recommendations. Working under the guidance of Internal Audit, the Internal Audit Intern is expected to constructively work with all departments to improve internal controls across the company.
Assist in the execution of internal control test plans, including assessing design and operating effectiveness for controls in scope for Model Audit Rule compliance.
Assist in partnering with the business to document process controls as needed.
Follow up to ensure that approved recommendations are implemented.
Assist with all aspects of an audit including: planning and risk assessment, audit test work, documentation and audit wrap up.
Assist with the annual external audit of the financial statements.
Assist with external audits or examinations conducted by the Internal Revenue Service, Kentucky Department of Insurance, and the Federal Government.
Exhibit the Guiding Principles in day to day work with both internal and external customers.
Ability to work a minimum of 15-25 hours per week.
Regular, predictable attendance as employee must physically be in the office.

High school diploma or GED.
Actively enrolled as a college student with a minimum of two years toward a Bachelor’s degree desired, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
One-year experience working in an office or customer service setting preferred.
Ability to analyze information and form a conclusion.
Ability to make independent judgment and initiative to make decisions.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Previous experience with projects or work involving high attention to detail preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work with employees at all levels.
Must remain in good academic standing throughout the internship.
