Overview

Reports to: Architecture Services Manager

Job Status: Hourly (15 – 38.5 hours a week)
Pay: $22.00 per hour

Location: On-site at KFB State Office in Louisville, KY
Term: May 2025 to August 2025 (term may be extended by mutual agreement of intern and hiring manager)

 

The Software Testing & Quality Engineer Intern is responsible for learning about and assisting with the development, implementation and maintenance of automation testing programs across KFB’s systems.  This role will assist with the execution of multiple program and project test plans to ensure testing and quality assurance best practices are created and adopted to support KFB’s project portfolio.  By working alongside the QA Test team the role will create a comprehensive test plan to automate testing for Small/medium projects.  Assists with the development fundamental experience in testing methodologies such as automation, manual, regression, and performance testing.

Responsibilities

In conjunction with the manager and other team members, provide quality assurance thoughts to continuously improve upon KFB’s testing competencies.

Create and manage a comprehensive test plan for small or Medium programs/projects.

Create, document, implement and monitor best practices of testing methodologies at KFB.

Create and execute automated test scripts using best practices to ensure automation coverage across applications.

Evaluate results of test cases and provide regular progress reports.

Interact with other business and technical teams to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, or modifications.

Advocate and promote a strong culture for testing and outstanding software quality.

Identify functional problems and suggest resolutions.

Provide test coverage analysis based on automation results.

Utilize, maintain, update existing Test Framework.

Develop and add automated functional and regression tests in the existing test framework.

Function in short 2-4-week sprint cycles.

Build, maintain and grow test automation infrastructure.

Participate in product and feature design reviews with developers.

Helps with the manual testing

Regular, predictable attendance as employee must physically be in the office.

Job Specifications 

 

Physical demands:  Normal vision/hearing (with or without correction); Sitting; Stress of working overtime as required.

Mental demands:  Prolonged concentration; Analytical reasoning; Stress of meeting deadlines.

Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature, and noise.

Equipment:  Personal computer.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required or in process. Computer Sciences degree preferred.

Classroom exposure or entry level experience of Systems Analysis and Design is preferred.

Classroom exposure or entry level experience of Core Java, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS strongly preferred. Other related object oriented development experience may be substituted.

Classroom exposure or entry level experience of Selenium or any other automation frameworks preferred.

Effective communication skills – verbal, written, and listening.
