Overview

*This position is for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation*

 

This position will assist in recording of financial transactions into a computer-based accounting system for Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and its related entities and will process the day-to-day tasks of the Human Resources function with Accounting and Finance.  Assists in the preparation of bi-weekly payroll, regulatory filings including tax returns, and various reconciliations of accounts.  Will also assist in the development and documentation of new procedures and processes related to new software functionalities, operational developments, accounting changes, and internal control refinement. 

Responsibilities

Process the day-to-day interactions of the Human Resources function within Accounting and Finance:

Administer payroll and benefits including preparation of biweekly payroll, assisting in open enrollment annually, assisting in the preparation of benefit censuses, etc.

Maintain benefit plan documentation and compliance.

Assist in annual compensation actions (merit increases, bonus, etc), and in the development of required HR systems.

Record all types of transactions in the accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledgers and modules of the financial accounting software, primarily regularly recurring transactions.

Manage credit card transaction entry.

Perform monthly reconciliations various accounts.

Maintain proficiency and fluency with most financial accounting functions.

Regular, predicable in-person attendance.

Other Responsibilities

 

Assist with the preparation of the Client Assistance Package for external auditors and answer questions.

Timely preparation and distribution of reports.

Implement process improvements and/or streamline processes through automation.

Continuously review procedures and processes to ensure and implement strong internal controls.

Preparation of regulatory filings including W-1, W-3, etc.

Attendance at KFB Annual Meeting and the certification of voting delegates.

Answer telephone inquiries courteously and efficiently.

Special projects and other tasks, as assigned.

 

Job Specifications

 

Physical demands: normal vision and hearing (with or without correction), sitting, mobility, lifting.             

Mental demands: prolonged concentration, ability to work under time pressure,

analytical reasoning, ability to problem solve and to conduct research.

Environmental factors: standard office lighting, temperature, and noise.

Equipment: keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and personal computer.

Qualifications

A combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by an experienced associate degree holder or acquired through a bachelor’s degree.

Experience in corporate accounting and/or payroll.

Experience in problem solving and process development.

Experience in payroll processing, employee file maintenance, benefit administration, and experience with payroll, HRIS, or total solution software, preferred.

Experience with financial accounting software, preferred. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Mastery of basic math and payroll principles.

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database software. 

Ability to work well with others, both inside and outside the organization.

Ability to work under minimal supervision.
