Overview

Reports to: Senior Investment Portfolio Manager

Job Status: Hourly (20 – 38.5 hours per week)

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Location: On-site at KFB State Office in Louisville, KY

Term: May 2026 to August 2026 (term may be extended by mutual agreement of intern and hiring manager)

 

Join our Investment Team as an intern and gain hands-on experience in portfolio management, market research, and investment strategy. You will support the team by collecting and analyzing financial data, preparing reports and presentations, and contributing to research projects that inform investment decisions. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a strong foundation in equity and fixed income analysis within the context of the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and analysis on companies, industries, and macroeconomic themes impacting equity and fixed income portfolios.

Collect, interpret, and synthesize market and economic data to support investment decisions.

Assist in the creation and refinement of presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Maintain and organize investment data files and research databases.

Develop a working knowledge of the insurance industry and its investment strategies.

Prepare a comprehensive research report on an assigned company or sector, including financial analysis and investment outlook.

Participate in departmental projects and contribute to team initiatives as needed.

Maintain regular, on-site attendance as employee must physically be in the office.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial databases is a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Interest in financial markets and investment management.
