Overview

Inspect new business and established commercial risks as needed for acceptability.  Assists the agents by providing efficient and effective underwriting tools and support to facilitate their efforts to manage and grow the book of business in an effective, profitable and compliant fashion.

 

County Territories: Adair, Anderson, Bell, Boyle, Breathitt, Casey, Clay, Clinton, Cumberland, Garrard, Green, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Lincoln, Magoffin, Marion, McCreary, Mercer, Metcalf, Monroe, Owsley, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Taylor, Wayne, and Whitley.

Responsibilities

Train agents and employees including on-site training of AUS Representatives.

Make regular visits as needed to county offices to inspect and analyze commercial business.

Monitor competition, industry trends and provide feedback accordingly.

Develop and maintain productive relationships with agencies and staff.

Maintain a thorough understanding of Kentucky Farm Bureau programs, goals and objectives.

Provide proper documentation when making policy changes.

Direct issues pertaining to other functions to the appropriate personnel including DCM’s, ASMM’s or State Office staff as necessary.

Assist in catastrophe situations as deemed feasible by the Commercial Underwriting Manager.

Assist in implementing new products and procedures.

Assist with re-underwriting of commercial accounts for continued acceptability.

Propose changes and improvements to property/liability risks.

Report adverse trends to manager.

The ability to prioritize and schedule activities with limited supervision is required.

Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

Job Specifications

 

Physical demands: Normal hearing and vision (with or without correction); Speaking; Reading; Must be able to operate a motor vehicle; Extensive driving; Extensive overnight travel may be required.

Mental demands: Analytic reasoning; Prolonged concentration; Coordination skills.

Environmental factors: Working outdoors year round (frequently); Standard office lighting, temperature and noise.

Equipment: Fax machine; Computer/keyboard; Calculator; Automobile; Digital Camera.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Strong computer skills and familiarity of software programs and spreadsheets such as Microsoft Office.

Property and Casualty agent’s license or agreement to obtain within one year of hire.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

A minimum of five years experience in the insurance industry - within a commercial environment.

Excellent human relation skills and demonstrated ability to be a team player.

Excellent communication skills; written, oral and listening.
